Writing the text that gets you booked

1 min read · Updated 24 September 2026

A traveller decides in seconds whether to keep reading. They are not looking for poetry: they are checking whether your place fits their trip.

Start with what is true and specific

"Charming house in an authentic region" says nothing. "Stone farmhouse ten minutes from the coast, with a barn set up for bikes" says everything: where, why, and who it suits.

The order that works

The hook, then who it suits, then the spaces room by room, then the surroundings, then the practical details.

What actually reassures

Concrete details, not superlatives: the exact distance to the bakery, the internet speed, whether there are neighbours, how steep the access road is, what you hear at night.

Saying what is missing wins bookings rather than losing them. A guest who knows there is no dishwasher and books anyway will not mind. One who finds out on arrival leaves a two-star review.
